The new showroom in Lillesand will be a major representational space for a window and door producing company in Norway. It will showcase a range of production with the focus on the high-end window profiles. It will be a compact building with integrated parts of a showroom and an office (approx. 400 m2) and an unheated storage space (approx. 100 m2 ). The building has to be exceptional but cost-effective.
Two versions for architectural volume were developed. Version 1: The building has a low part for the exhibition space an the higher part for storage. The skylight boxes pop-up on the roof and become part of the dynamic composition. The overall building is rather simple, but sleek, reminding of an art gallery in a park. This interior scheme suggests to turn all the elements (rooms) of an office into an exhibition products “in action”. Version 2: The building is a minimalist rectangular box, however the tall glass walls all around the perimeter, the thin cornice (hidden roof structure) makes it a rather chique outstanding building. The entrance box highlights the main entrance and adds some dynamics to the overall volume. This interior scheme suggests to integrate office function and exhibition in one space, however (differently from the Version 1) to keep them as separate objects.
